Automation merger
Two market leaders in optical character recognition (OCR) have merged their port automation solution businesses together to form a new company called Certus Port Automation.
Certus combines the worldwide experience of both High Tech Solutions (HTS) and Dalosy Industrial Systems (DIS).
Meta Rotenberg, vice president marketing and business development, High Tech Solutions (HTS), told GreenPort that the strategy behind the move is to provide an integrated solution to the market extending beyond automation and providing security, IT and terminal process design.
And an integrated automated offering can only help to make terminals more green and efficient.
Ms Rotenburg said: “Due to synergies that speed up traffic time and decrease stops and starts of trucks, there is less carbon emissions and energy consumption with our systems – by combining automation and security, proceses are more efficient and therefore consume less electricity and fuel.”
Furthermore she pointed out that the company’s unique LED illumination has already been deployed in over 750 OCR systems globally and is recognised as one of the lowest energy consumption devices on the OCR market.
“Future product development will have an increased focus on sustainable and environmental friendly use of materials”, she added.
Certus technology is now present in over 50 terminals and in 25 countries.
