Addressing the market’s reach stacking needs
A German equipment supplier says its addressing a market need in container lifting by taking on the supply of a new range of reach trucks.
Hinrichs Flurfördergeräte says that each new Meclift model has been designed to handle a different lifting capacity, each has an intelligent design taking safety and profitability into primes consideration.
“We use two Meclift machines for loading and unloading steel coils into and out of containers in our port. These machines are very unique in design. Thanks to their low height and good reaching ability we are able to use them in other jobs as well. Sometimes we wonder how some of these jobs could be done without the Meclift trucks,” said one terminal operator.
The Meclift Variable Reach Truck ML1612R has a lifting capacity range of 16 tonnes and can be operated inside containers. Hinrichs Flurfördergeräte says it has a unique reaching ability in its class being able to lift 20-feet containers from fork pockets and stacks them up to 3-high.
Multipurpose lifting
Meclift’s ML1812R model is a multipurpose machine with a lifting capacity range of 18 tonnes, which can also be operated inside containers.
ML3012RC is a compact variable reach truck with a 30-tonne lifting capacity at a load centre of 1,200mm.
The units are currently used at ports or terminals to load heavy cargo, such as heavy stone blocks, inside containers.
With the MecliftTM ML4212RC variable reach truck has been designed to help on container loading and unloading. When supplied with the optional Lifting Beams attachment it is possible to place rods, pipes and tubes into middle of a 40ft container. Hinrichs Flurfördergeräte said there is no other machine on the market that can do this.
Lastly, the supplier said that the ML5012R provides an opportunity for multiple savings. Apparently, it’s the world´s smallest machine in its lifting capacity range. Its horizontal boom structure and compact size enable it to handle heavy loads in confined spaces like the inside of cargo vessels.
