In a release, the company said that the product increases tyre life substantially, lowers tyre heat generation and minimises wear.

“We have been running tests [with] our customers over the last year and have seen cases where the tyre life was even doubled,” Julian Alexander, Continental Commercial Specialty Tires’ (CST) product line manager for material handling, said.

The compound will premiere at the 2018 edition of container supply chain event TOC Europe, to be held from June 12-14 in Rotterdam in the Netherlands.

Under the motto “Reliable tires. Intelligent operations. Efficient Terminals”, Continental will display the new product for its V.ply portfolio.

Also on show at the event will be the digital tyre pressure-monitoring systems ContiPressureCheck and ContiConnect.

Developed by Continental in order to ensure correct tyre temperature and pressure, the systems both feature intelligent tyre sensors which constantly measure pressure and temperature from inside a tyre and deliver data for display on a device — whether this is on a web portal overseeing a fleet, inside a driver’s cabin or on a handheld item.

According to the manufacturing business, the alerts and notifications in particular are designed to bring a fleet operator’s attention to tyres requiring immediate action.

ContiPressureCheck is designed for individual vehicles and ContiConnect is designed for fleets.
