Port Houston in emissions data solution first
Port Houston in Texas has become the first port in the US to adopt an award-winning emissions data solution.
EmissionInsider, developed by PortXchange, allows ports access to real-time insights into emissions from vessels, ensuring regulatory compliance.
“The partnership with Port Houston marks a significant milestone for PortXchange,” said Sjoerd de Jager, chief executive at PortXchange.
“With the implementation of PortXchange EmissionInsider, we are delighted to support Port Houston in its goal to make the transition to a net-zero port.
Setting a precedent
As the first US port to adopt PortXchange EmissionInsider, Port Houston says it is setting a precedent for sustainable port management nationwide.
EmissionInsider has recently been recognised by the North American Marine Environment Protection Association as winner of its the Marine Environment Protection Award in Environmental Innovation award.
“Looking ahead, we see immense potential in expanding EmissionInsider’s capabilities to calculate emissions from trucks and rail, paving the way for even more sustainable transport options,” said Trae Camble, Director of Environmental Affairs at Port Houston.
“This partnership with PortXchange marks the beginning of an exciting chapter in our sustainability journey.”
