Autostore for PD Ports new Hull terminal

Central Systems & Automation AUTOSTORE has been selected by PD Ports to run container movements in and out of Hull Container Terminal (HCT). The 17acre site handles over 250,000TEUs each year and turns over around £ 6m annually.

On delivery, South Africa Port Operations will have a total of 19 Liebherr ship-to-shore cranes in operation at its facilities.

AUTOSTORE’s task is to ensure that the right containers are in the right place at the right time and arrive or depart on the right ship or vehicle. For each vessel, the entire payload may need to be stripped or just selective containers loaded or removed. AUTOSTORE will choreograph every movement across HCT from quayside to gatehouse, with built-in system failsafe and security procedures to prevent costly loading or transhipment errors and fraud.

HCT’s AUTOSTORE implementation runs across a Windows-based network of PCs for its users and communicates with the three 45-tonne (under hook) ship-toshore gantry cranes, five 45tonne reach-stackers and two 35-tonne toplifters – plus other assorted mechanical handling equipment – using remote radio frequency identification (RFID) terminals over an extensive wireless LAN.
