Adani wins Abbot Point lease
The long-term lease of the Abbot Point coal terminal in Queensland has been won by Mundra Port and Special Economic Zone (MPSEZ), a branch of the Adani group of India.
The 99-year lease was secured with a bid price of A$1.8bn (US$1.9bn).
Abbot Point is owned by North Queensland Bulk Ports and has an annual coal export capacity of 50m tonnes.
MPSEZ operates the Indian ports of Mundra and Dahej, and is developing ports at Hazira and Mormugao.
