Bromma focus on Asian markets

Spreader specialist Bromma has taken the strategic decision to split its management team between Stockholm and Singapore to “be closer to this market”.

Go east: the spreader specialist is geographically splitting its management team

Speaking to Port Strategy, Lars Meurling, vice-president of marketing, Bromma, explained: “Asia-Pacific is growing faster than Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and the Americas. If we want to defend our dominant market share we need to be there.”

He added that lower capacity utilisation in the Asia Pacific region means there is greater scope for new equipment sales there than in EMEA or in the Americas.

“Bromma president Per-Anders Holmström wants to be closer to this hotspot of the world right now and as a consequence our global management team will be split between Stockholm and Singapore, with the managing director in Ipoh, Malaysia,” said Mr Meurling.

The Bromma president will be joined by financial director Christopher Thiele in the relocation to Singapore. The company is also planning to move commercial activities to Singapore from the start of next year.

“Already today more containers are handled in Asia compared to the rest of the world combined and the Asian market will continue to grow significantly faster,” said Mr Holmström.

Bromma stressed that the decision will not impact its operations and support for customers and markets outside of Asia.
