DBA wins Baku contract
The DBA Group has reached an agreement with Baku International Sea Trade Port to supply architecture and engineering services for the new Port of Baku in Alat.
As well as this, the deal also includes the supply of IT solutions and management systems for the new port’s terminal operations.
The agreement was made official during the IV Intergovernmental Bilateral Commission for Italy – Azerbaijan Economic Cooperation held in Rome on June 13, 216 at the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
DBA Group will design and supervise the construction works of the new Passenger Terminal Building in Alyat. While DBA’s subsidiary in Slovenia, Actual I.T., will develop a Port Management Information System (PMIS) platform to optimise logistic processes and terminal operations in Port of Baku.
This will aim to automate daily operations activities at the port and make shipping goods along the new Silk Road connecting China and India to Europe more efficient and attractive than traditional routes. Total value of the two contracts for DBA Group is said to be around €2m.
Both the DBA Group and Port of Baku are targeting a long-term partnership, directed towards creating synergies and aggregating know-how and specific competencies.
This will hopefully allow for the requalification of Baku as a strategic logistic Hub along the Silk Road, recovering the historic role that the capital has had in the past along the east-west corridors.
