Cyber attack recovery
South African container operations are continuing to recover after a cyber attack.
In a statement about the cyber attack, released on Twitter, Transnet SOC Ltd said “significant progress” had been made in restoring its IT systems with most effected applications functioning as of 26 July and a force majeure put in place on the same date is expected to be lifted soon.
“At the ports, each container terminal has communicated its transition plan from manual operation to the full NAVIS-driven operation.
“The terminals are berthing vessels as planned and facilitating loading and discharge operations with the shipping lines.
Implemented on 26 July, the force majeure covers the period from 22 July.
Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) has continued utilising manual backup operations and has been able to run trains as planned.
