AD Ports expands its alt fuels offering

The port’s wider aim is to facilitate access to lower carbon fuels, which supports both the industry and global environmental objectives.

Growing commitment

The first ship-to-ship (STS) bunkering saw the container vessel MSC Thais refuel from the Green Zeebrugge, operated by marine fuels provider Monjasa.

Conducted alongside cargo operations, the event highlighted the port’s cutting-edge infrastructure and capacity to offer integrated services while supporting the maritime sector’s shift toward cleaner energy sources.

Captain Saif Al Mheiri said that the use of LNG bunkering reflects a growing commitment to alternative fuels at the port and in Abu Dhabi as a whole.

The operation was executed under strict international regulations set by the IMO, ISO, and SIGTTO, ensuring compliance with global best practices.

AD Ports Group now plans to extend LNG bunkering services across its commercial ports in Abu Dhabi, including Zayed Port for cruise vessels, while also continuing to offering its standard fuel portfolio that includes VLSFO, MGO and HSFO.
