Algeciras begins LNG cruise bunkering services

The beginning of bunkering operations at the port marks a milestone for the Autoridad Portuaria de la Bahia de Algeciras (APBA), which will now be able to provide lower carbon solutions to the growing number of LNG powered vessels joining the global fleet.

Branching out

Peninsula began LNG bunkering operations in the west Med in November 2023 when it supplied Royal Caribbean Group’s cruise vessel Silver Nova with the fuel in Gibraltar.

The supply operation was carried out by Peninsula’s latest addition to its fleet, the 12,500m3 LNG supply vessel, Levante LNG. The vessel arrived at the end of September and is now fully operational in the Strait of Gibraltar,

Levante LNG is covering Royal Caribbean bunkering requirements across its Western Mediterranean ports.
