First biofuel bunkering for Malaysian port

In partnership with Green Marine Supply and Armada Meridian, Banle Energy performed bunkering services to Yang Ming on 28 June and 10 July at Malaysia’s largest port.

Teck Lim Chia, chairman and chief executive of Banle Energy, said the company was honoured to facilitate Port Klang’s first B24 biofuel bunkering service.

“This milestone not only marks a significant step in the group’s sustainable development journey but also demonstrates our contribution to the global shipping industry’s low-carbon transition,” he said.

“Banle Energy will continue to expand its business scope and stay committed to meeting the diverse needs of shipowner customers, further solidifying our position as a leading ship fuel supplier in the Asia-Pacific region.”

The B24 biofuel is a blend of used cooking oil methyl ester and traditional marine fuel. Compared to traditional marine fuel, the blend is projected to reduce around 20% of greenhouse gas emissions.

Earlier this year, Banle Energy and Yang Ming collaborated on B24 biofuel bunkering supply in Shenzhen, China. The transaction marked the first B24 biofuel supply in Shenzhen and Yang Ming’s inaugural B24 biofuel bunkering supply in China.
