IAPH showcases its future fuels tool

During the CEM Hubs event at the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM15) in Brazil, held to support the G20 Energy Transition Agenda, Eduardo Kantz, ESG and institutional relations officer of Prumo Logística, previewed IAPH’s upcoming digital Port Readiness Level for Marine Fuels (PRL-MF) self-assessment tool.

“This tool will help ports assess their readiness for the energy transition, making them better equipped to handle vessels powered by future fuels. It’s a vital step towards decarbonising the sector,” Mr Kantz explained during his presentation.

Future fuels tool

Set to launch at the World Ports Conference in Hamburg on 9 October, the tool is designed to help ports assess their preparedness for handling future fuels, including low- and zero-carbon options.

Developed in partnership with the World Ports Climate Action Program (WPCAP) and Mission Innovation, the tool is part of IAPH’s commitment to advancing sustainable fuel solutions for the maritime industry.

IAPH has announced plans to expand the PRL-MF tool with additional checklists for ports preparing to accommodate vessels powered by alternative fuels and those transporting these fuels as cargo. These developments are key components of IAPH’s work within the CEM Hubs initiative.

The CEM Hubs initiative, which has welcomed Greece as a new member, continues to garner international support from public and private sectors.

At the IAPH World Ports Conference this week, IAPH is aiming to lead the global conversation on future fuels and sustainable port operations.
