India eyes the creation of green hydrogen hubs

According to various media outlets, this initiative is part of the company’s strategy to expand into the growing green energy sector.

Arun Maheshwari, joint managing direcyor of JSW Infrastructure, told Machine Maker that “This is a new age businesss that is emerging.”

“Both our existing and new port locations are appealing to potential players.”

He told the publication that the firm has already been approached by firms interested in green hydrogen and ammonia.

Evaluating potential

The operator is apparently evaluating the potential for these projects, which are expected to be significant, long-term investments.

These projects will necessitate the acquisition appropriate land, a solid infrastructure and strategically positioned port locations to ensure their viability and success.

The Economic Times reports that JSW Infra’s green hydrogen plans include Adani’s Vizhinjam port as a hub for hydrogen production and export.

And earlier this year, the Ministry of Ports, Shippping and Waterways (MoPSW) identified Kandla, Paradip and Tuticorin as future hubs for hydrogen exports.

As yet though, no timeline has yet been given for the project.
