Andhra Pradesh seeks second major port

The state of Andhra Pradesh in India says it would like to establish a second major seaport, following the success of Visakhapatnam.

It is therefore lobbying the national government to expedite this, arguing that it would boost the economy and port sector in the state.

Existing non-major ports are also being developed and should be handling 54% of all cargo by 2020.
