APM Terminals sees potential in India
APM Terminals’ chief executive, Kim Feijer, says that, despite having the worlds third-largest economy, India remains under represented in terms of global trade.
India, Pakistan and Bangladesh between them generated just 18m teu in 2011, which was 4m teu fewer than China’s port of Shenzhen. India alone was responsible for 9.7m teu.
Mr Feijer suggested that investment of $20bn needs to be made in the necessary port infrastructure to bring these figures up to their real potential.
