Bird flu protection stepped up
With reports of suspected bird flu occurring in the Philippines, ICTSI has increased safety measures to protect its Manila International Container Terminal.
These include NYK, MOL, CMA CGM, PSA, HPH, Evergreen, Container Corporation of India, Larsen & Toubro and Gammon India. A contract is expected to be awarded in September or October.
The country is still safe from bird flu, but ICTSI are taking preventative measures. A quarantine team conducts medical examinations on board all vessels wishing to board at MICT, in a similar procedure followed during the SARS outbreak two years ago.
