Navis’ software and services support and optimise an efficient global supply chain and the company sees itself as both a technology innovator pioneering future productivity and a shipping expert that is deeply involved in its customers’ operations, said Andy Barrons, chief strategy officer at Navis,

“We expect our nominees will see their customers and clients as their biggest priority. We expect they will hold themselves accountable for the services and support they provide to their clients and customers. And we expect our customers will utilise and invest in our technology,” Mr Barrons said.

In 2017, Puerto Central won the Customer and Community Impact award. Puerto Central developed a web portal that streamlines clearance and paperwork, invoicing and credit balancing, and bookings and customs information, and is completely integrated with Navis N4.

The Collaboration Across the Container Flow category was created to encourage collaboration between shipping lines and terminals in the maritime industry.

Nominees should demonstrate they are enhancing their collaboration, networking and information sharing with other terminals through implementing and improving upon Navis software, explained Mr Barrons.

He said: “Through partnering with other terminals and fostering better communication streams, nominees will gain greater transparency and improve upon critical operations and processes in the industry.”

In 2017, Hapag Lloyd won the Collaboration award. Hapag Lloyd signed on for the pilot programme of XVELA’s cloud collaboration platform and found specific improvements in transparency, collaboration, and stowage process efficiency

New for 2019 is the Learning & Development Category and Navis expects nominees will invest heavily in training before any execution of a project.

Navis expects nominees will put together a transparent learning and development plan for all key stakeholders involved in a project. The plan should strategically support growth within the port community to ensure that the personnel whose livelihood depends on the success of the terminal will not be at risk through a TOS implementation.

The vessel performance and capacity category recognises the efforts of Navis customers using Navis software solutions such as Bluetracker and MACS3 to increase vessel performance and vessel capacity.

“The winner must be a Navis customer who has achieved exceptional results – either in their work to achieve measurable greater productivity and effectivity or in their collaboration with Navis,” said Mr Barrons.

In 2017, CMA CGM won the Vessel Performance and Capacity award. CMA CGM had worked to find new ways to use Stowman and Stowman[s] and had constantly adapted its processes and tools to attain continual improvements and increased efficiency.
