Bright outlook for LEP expert

US based LEP plasma technology expert, Bright Light Systems, is helping to cut energy consumption by 50% at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach by installing high mast LEP luminaires in the yards.

Bright Light Systems installed high mast LEP luminaires at the Port of Seattle last year

These new fixtures will replace existing 1000w high-pressure sodium pressure lighting in the yards. The contract was secured with the help of PortTech LA, a non-profit organisation and cooperative effort to promote sustainable technologies by the City of Los Angeles, the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach and harbour area businesses.

In addition to this, Bright Light Systems said its recent sales and marketing agreement with Phoenix Terminal Solutions (PTS), is helping the company achieve a more global reach.

Brad Lurie, CEO, Bright Light Systems, told GreenPort: “Since we entered into the partnership with PTS we are doing some amazing things around efficiency and sustainability. We are benefitting from additional skills and coverage and added market credibility.”

The new partnership has already helped to secure Bright Light Systems new contracts for LEP luminaires at ports in Europe, south America, Australia and south east Asia.

LEP luminaires provide increased colour recognition, are dimmable to 20% and carry a lifetime rating of 50,000 hours. The installations are Dark-Sky Compliant and the crisp white light enhances security cameras’ image acuity and the ability to recognise faces.

Operating as a global sales agency to serve the container, intermodal, and bulk terminal markets, PTS supplies both LEP fixtures designed by Bright Light Systems, which are ideal for high mast, yard lighting and Phoenix’s LED options for port equipment.
