Drydocks World offshore grid connection win
Drydocks World, in partnership with GE Vernova, has been awarded the Ostwind 4 project, a 2GW offshore wind grid connection designed to support Germany’s renewable energy ambitions.
Once completed, the project will supply clean energy to nearly two million German households, furthering Europe’s energy transition.

Wind connection
The Ostwind 4 project will connect Baltic Sea wind farms to the German grid via High-Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) technology, marking the country’s first use of 525 kV HVDC systems in the Baltic region.
Drydocks World will lead the engineering, procurement and construction of offshore converter stations, fabricating advanced topsides at its Dubai facility.
Once completed, the platform will be transported and installed in German waters.
The project will also include onshore and offshore converter stations and a 110 km cable system, setting new standards for renewable energy infrastructure. GE Vernova’s HVDC technology, including SF6-free switchgear and automation systems, will enable efficient energy transmission.
