Acajutla doubles throughput
Following 12 months of upgrading work El Salvadors main box terminal at the port of Acajutla forecasts throughput rising to 50,000TEU in 2003 compared to 41,000TEU the year before and just 12,000TEU in 2001. The traffic increase is the result of the introduction of a private operator raising productivity from eight moves-per-crane-hour to 22 moves, with 32 moves achieved on occasions.
