ADT installs system for Cork
ADT has provided an integrated security system at Cork to help satisfy the requirements of the ISPS Code. CCTV technology enables access control from a central point. Access gates to berths can be opened and closed remotely using information passed along fibre optic cables to the control centre.
UNCTAD carried out a global government and industry survey on ISPS Code implementation, costs and related financing (available for downloading at www.unctad.org/ttl/legal). A total of 55 completed questionnaires were received from respondent ports, the majority of these being in developed countries.
Point to point microwave links between the CCTV cameras allow them to be controlled from two miles away. Vehicle number plate recognition (VNPR) software allows detailed scrutiny of movements at the port. The system will be fully integrated with Cork’s existing systems, incorporating a broadband connection to its control technology.
