BMT provides port planning for Sime

BMT Asia Pacific, a BMT Group Ltd subsidiary, will be providing port planning for Malaysian conglomerate Sime Darby Berhad as it prepares to expand its Weifang Port, Shandong province, China.

BMT Asia Pacific has provided a master plan for Sime's development of Weifang Port

BMT’s latest project is a strategic master plan for Sime’s RMB 2.8bn (USD$440m) port development. The plan for the Malaysian port covers all aspects including economic, technical and financial.

Dr Simon Su, director and chief economist, BMT Asia Pacific, said: “The development of a viable business plan is the key foundation to the success of a port or terminal. As such we have created business development strategies and action plans for clients and evaluated the most efficient structure and forms of finance.”

Dr Su added: ” We are pleased to be working with Sime Darby, providing the organisation with the port master plan they need to establish a technically and financially viable roadmap, as well as a strategic business model which helps to better position the port for returns on investment.”

Extensive external market examination and internal operation research on areas including hinterland market, pricing strategy, cost audit, layout design and structural integrity study, was carried out in order to achieve the most efficient and cost effective comprehensive master plan for the Weifang Port.
