According to Bromma terminal revenue production can be significantly influenced by the type of spreader selected. For example, separating twin-lift [two 20′ container] spreaders can, on average, load or unload a container vessel in 24 fewer moves. This is because twin-lift spreaders are able to better adjust to the various container locations and container sizes on a typical vessel. Terminal income per move varies around the world, but assuming income of US$100-150 per move, this creates a financial advantage (for a separating twin-lift spreader over a standard twin-lift spreader) of US$2,400-3,600 per vessel loading/unloading.
