Straddle Carriers
TPS is to supply its 11 of its diesel-electric powered straddle carriers to container terminal operator PSA Antwerp NV. The new vehicles will be fitted with custom equipment, including swivelling driver seats for improved ergonomics and other technical modifications to help PSA reduce maintenance costs and to provide secure operation.

A total of 22 straddle carriers will be supplied to South Africa’s Transnet Port Terminals as part of a expansion of its existing fleet.

Forklift trucks and empty container handlers
Kalmar, part of Cargotec, is to supply nine 7 tonne DCE70-6 forklifts and three of its 10 tonne DCF100-45E8 empty container handlers for existing customer, Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Services Enterprises (ESLSE).

The equipment will be used at the coastal Port of Djibouti, which serves as the principle import/export location for Ethiopia.

Yard tractors and rubber-tyred gantry crane (RTG)
Noatum Container Terminal Valencia recently hosted a public demonstration of the pilot trials of two yard tractors and an ECO-RTG within the framework of the European Greencranes project, led by the Valenciaport Foundation and the Port Authority of Valencia.

One of the yard tractors is propelled by LNG and the other by diesel. Both feature the latest technologies to comply with the emission control standards of Stage VI and are proven to be quieter and have lower emissions than traditional yard tractors.

During the second trial, the ECO-RTG proved to lower energy consumption by 42% and cut emissions.
