GreenSeas has already been successful in its home waters in Trinidad and Tobago where the “Litter kills Marine Life” campaign saw the placement of rubbish bins along Tobago’s heavily polluted public beaches.

Of the charity’s aims, Fazilette, who was at sea for many years, says: “I have witnessed the consequences of thoughtless littering of the marine environment.

Pollution of the seas is causing severe and permanent damage to marine and coral life.

“When I founded GreenSeas I was convinced that it is our responsibility to decrease the level of maritime pollution in the Caribbean and elsewhere.”
