Building of Green Port Hull set to create hundreds of jobs – contractors sought
HUNDREDS of jobs could be created in Hull with the start of one of the biggest construction projects the city has ever seen.
Contractors are now being sought for the multi-million pound Green Port Hull development by Association British Ports (ABP) to transform the area around Alexandra Dock and provide a catalyst for thousands of jobs.
The £85 million construction work, including building a 600m quay, is expected to start in November to prepare the port for the arrival of Siemens.
In January, the energy giant announced it had chosen Hull as the preferred location for its £80 million UK wind turbine manufacturing facility.
The three-year construction programme is expected to get under way at the end of November in time for proposed opening of Siemens’s factory in July 2014.
