Cavotec chalks up million Euro shore power order

The new system, ordered for the Port of Antwerp-Bruges cruise terminal, will make a substantial contribution to reduced emissions and supports compliance with international environmental regulations.

“This order reinforces our strong position in the shore power market for cruise applications and highlights the trust customers place in our technology as ports accelerate their transition to clean operations,” said David Pagels, CEO of Cavotec.

The project, which is co-funded by the European Union, will enable cruise vessels calling at the terminal to connect to shore-side electricity, allowing them to shut down their onboard generators and reduce emissions while at berth.

As part of the agreement, Cavotec will also provide maintenance services for the equipment for a period of five years. Delivery is scheduled for the third quarter of 2026.

Meanwhile, Cavotec  will launch a new shore power solution for container ports at TOC Europe 2025, where it will also showcase its latest MCS Manual Dispenser.

Developed specifically for container terminals, Cavotec said its new shore power system is a flexible, high-performance solution that supports ports in reducing emissions and improving operational efficiency. 

The new MCS Manual Dispenser is a compact, user-friendly system enables safe, efficient high-power charging of electric and hybrid vessels, making it ideal for ports and terminals that do not require full automation.
