Ultra-fast charging launches in London

The solution will be used to power eight new Kalmar electric straddle carriers, enabling rapid 0-100% charging in just 45 minutes and significantly boosting operational efficiency.

“Our strong relationship with Kalmar allowed for comprehensive interoperability testing, ensuring seamless integration of our charging system with the electric straddle carriers.”

With a compact design that fits existing port infrastructure with minimal adjustments, Kempower’s modular system ensures continuous operation for three to four hours, aligning with driver break schedules.

The system features eight liquid-cooled charging satellites, a 550 kW power unit and the Kempower ChargEye charging management system. The first station was commissioned in May 2024.

For Kempower, this project represents a key expansion into the port sector, with both companies exploring future collaborations and possible expansion following the pilot’s success.

This initiative supports DP World’s carbon-neutral target by 2040 and its goal of reducing its carbon footprint by 28% by 2030.
