Adsteam rolls out 3-man crewing
Harbour towage contractor Adsteam UK has completed the first phase of its national roll-out of 3-person crewing, agreed with the UKs Transport & General Workers Union. Operations at Liverpool, Southampton, Medway, Hull and Felixstowe have now implemented the new working system.
Germany’s DVD Bank is also participating in the transaction in syndication.
Gravesend and Immingham form part of the second phase and have already initiated the necessary safety assessments and employee consultations.
Adsteam says the reduction in manpower required to operate modernday tugs is a key element in its stated commitment of reducing operational costs without compromising safety or performance.
