APMT INCREASES SHAREHOLDING IN GIOIA TAURO

APM Terminals has signed up with Contship Italia, Lucernate di Rho (Milano), Italy, a 83.3% subsidiary of EUROKAI, for 23.3% of the shares of Medcenter Container Terminals (MCT), Gioia Tauro. The purchase will bring APMTs total share capital to 33.3%. Contship Italia will remain the majority shareholder with 66.7%.

Commenting on the proposals, HPH’s UK md, Richard Pearson, said: “This development will enable Felixstowe to berth more of the latest generation of large container vessels simultaneously, securing our position as a major European hub, and ensuring that UK importers and exporters enjoy the full range of direct-call liner services.”

Closing is subject to EU antitrust clearance.
