GULFTAINER ACTS FOR KUWAIT
Kuwait Port Authority (KPA) is to modernise its container terminals at Shuweikh and Shuwaiba and Gulftainer has been appointed its official consultant. It is the intention to construct a 1200 metre long new terminal with four berths and alongside draught of 14.5 metres at Shuweikh.
First phase investment will require US$100m to develop roads, a 600 metre long quay, a reservoir, a bonded warehouse and upgraded power supply, allowing the facility to open by 2007.
The new berths will be constructed in two phases to ensure that both will be available by the beginning of 2006 whilst a second phase will be completed by 2007.
