Gulftainer celebrates 8% growth in volumes
Sharjah-based Gulftainer handled 6.4m teu in 2014, marking 8% growth over 2013.
The privately-owned operator celebrated growth at terminals outside of its home emirate, with its Saudi terminals recording volumes of 2.3m teu.
Its Iraqi terminal celebrated growth of 46%, while its Recife terminal in Brazil saw volumes rise 7%.
Group commercial director Iain Rawlinson said the positive growth is “strong testament to the expertise and dedication of our employees and the strong productivity levels we are able to achieve on a consistent basis”.
On home turf, Gulftainer’s UAE terminals recorded a total volume of 3.8m teu, a total which is expected to further rise with the commissioning of new STS and RTG cranes.
