Brisbane battleground for DPW
The stevedoring union in Australia is preparing for a battle to oppose a proposal by DP World to cut jobs as a result of the semi-automation of its terminal in Brisbane.
The Maritime Union of Australia says DP World has proposed cutting 141 jobs from its Brisbane workforce.
A DP World spokesperson has confirmed it is seeking expressions of interest for voluntary redundancy.
The union’s position has hardened since the semi-automation was announced last year, saying the size of redundancies is “extreme”.
