Darwin under pollution microscope

The Port of Darwin is being investigated by the Northern Territory Government following complaints that copper concentrate has been escaping during loading operations at the port.

Newspaper reports suggested up to 20 tonnes a year have been escaping into the water from conveyor operations but the port admitted to only two occurrences, and has said it does not believe any environmental damage has occurred.

The port has said it will cooperate fully with any inquiries into the two incidents.
