Aqua superPower moves into ports sector
Fast charge network operator, Aqua superPower has moved into the commercial ports sector, providing services for the ever-growing fleet of electric ferries, patrol and work boats.
Financial backing has been provided by the UK Shipping Office for Reducing Emissions to the tune of £4.1 million plus additional funding from Innovate UK and others.
Electric workboats are poised to capture a significant share of the global market, projected to reach 11.8% by 2032.
“The global maritime sector is at a turning point,” said Alex Bamberg, chief executive of Aqua superPower.
“Our dedication to providing cost-free charging infrastructure to commercial ports aligns with our mission to propel the adoption of battery electric vessels forward, contributing significantly to global decarbonisation goals.”
The company is teaming up with the LHD Group to provide a fast-charging solution for the first electric mooring boat for commercial port use, slated to launch at the end of the year.
“We have partnered with Aqua Superpower on the fast-charging solution which will allow our vessel to recharge in less than one hour on a 400kW DC charger,” said Jean Luc Desmars, LHD president.
With a proven track record in supporting leisure marines worldwide, this move into the commercial port sector is part of the wider push to decarbonise the maritime industry.
