Bromma will supply the Brisbane terminals of Dubai Ports World with 16 YSX40E all-electric yard spreaders, the Port of Beirut, Lebanon, with 14 and the Port of Valencia, Spain, with four. The Port of Beirut has also ordered five Bromma STS45 separating twin spreaders.

The all-electric yard crane spreaders, which have fewer service points and do not require fluids or hoses, reduce energy and emissions and eliminate the risk of groundwater contamination while reducing maintenance and operational costs.

The contracts for the yard spreaders follow recent orders from Long Beach Container Terminal LLC for 50 ship-to-shore and yard all-electric spreaders and Northport in Malaysia for nine STS45 separating twin spreaders.

All electric green spreaders are part of a far-reaching programme called the Bromma Environmental Initiative. The initiative involves a comprehensive approach to many different areas of environment impact, including reducing environmental impact during operation, optimising equipment lifespan, recycling of equipment, equipment function and the production process.

One of Bromma’s key focuses is to reduce the amount of aggregate materials used in equipment and to this end it has focused on the sourcing of green steel. The raw material of iron ore from which steel is produced can vary considerably based on where it is sourced.
