Cavotec wins major shore power deal

The deal with the unnamed company will see deliveries take place between late 2023 and early 2025.

The order, a repeat of previous deals with the company, is for Cavotec’s PowerFit units, which are complete containerised solutions for the high-voltage connection of vessels to shore power. The units enable dramatic reduction of local air and noise pollution at ports, says Cavotec, minimising vessels’ environmental impact.

“We’re very pleased to receive this repeat order which is based on our successful co-operation with the customer over the last few years,” said Patrick Mares, president of the Ports & Maritime Division at Cavotec.

“We look forward to helping more ships in the world switch off their auxiliary generators and contributing to improved air quality and reduced noise.”

Ports around the world have used Cavotec shore power solutions since the 1980s. Currently, more than 1,000 ocean-going vessels are fitted with Cavotec’s shore power connection technologies.
