Konecranes secures hybrid RTG deal in Spain

The latest order will expand CSP Valencia’s fleet to 18 rubber-tyred gantry cranes featuring Konecranes’ hybrid drive technology. These RTGs, set for delivery in March 2026, will cut fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, aligning with CSP Valencia’s decarbonisation strategy.

“This investment is another important step in our journey towards zero tailpipe port equipment operations,” said Gustavo Ferrer Soriano, general manager at CSP Iberian Valencia.

“Konecranes’ hybrid technology is the solution that modern ports need.”

Green efficiency

Featuring Konecranes’ proven hybrid drive technology, the hybrid RTGs will significantly reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions compared to conventional diesel-powered RTGs.

They come with advanced features, including Active Load Control (ALC), Gantry Collision Prevention and Truck Lift Prevention, ensuring safety and efficiency at the Valencia terminal.

Going forward, Konecranes’ Port Services team in Valencia will provide ongoing maintenance to maximise performance and reliability. The company has seen rising demand for its hybrid drive solutions, marking this as the third such agreement in the Iberian region in 2025.

Part of Konecranes’ Ecolifting initiative, the company said the project reflects the company’s commitment to reducing environmental impact while enhancing operational efficiency in the global port equipment sector.
