Latvian expertise in electric port cranes

The massive all-electric double jib level luffing cranes, which stand 55 metres high and weigh 550 tonnes, will be shipped fully assembled to the Mediterranean Port of İsdemir. 

“Our competitive edge lies in our ability to adapt to each client’s specific needs and to manage the entire process from design to the finished product,” said Alina Deimonta, director of economics, Rikon.

”We have set our strategic direction towards the West and are focused on this goal. Next year, we will execute a project in Germany, with design and production expected to take a year and a half to two years.”

Increased demand

This complex delivery, requiring meticulous technical planning, marks the opening of a new export route for Latvia driven by the demand for advanced electric cranes that support cleaner port operations.

The first two units are part of a six-crane order, with additional equipment destined for the Port of Ereğli on the Black Sea.

All six cranes are fully electric, built without hydraulic systems and engineered to meet detailed customer specifications, a combination increasingly sought after as ports work to reduce emissions and upgrade heavy-lifting fleets.

Backed by its in-house design bureau and software development team, Rikon is expanding into Western Europe.

Aside from Germany, the company is targeting other markets including France, Belgium, Morocco and Italy.
