Long haul etrucks will revolutionise green logistics

The agreement with Mercedes-Benz Trucks to acquire the new eActros LongHaul from the start of series production in 2024, will see DB Schenker expand its sustainable fleet and further clean up its carbon footprint.

”With the eActros LongHaul, it is now possible to use battery-electric vehicles in long-distance haul routes in practice.”

Logical step

DB Schenker is already an important and long-standing partner for Mercedes-Benz Trucks and already uses its e-trucks successfully in distribution transport.

“We are all the more pleased that the company will also be relying on a truck with a star in long-distance transport with the battery-electric eActros LongHaul,” said Stina Fagerman, sales and services at Mercedes-Benz Trucks.

The eActros LongHaul uses batteries with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cell technology. Mercedes-Benz said these are characterised by a longer service life and more ‘usable’ energy.

eActros LongHaul’s batteries can be charged in series from 20 to 80% in well under 30 minutes at a charging station with about one megawatt of power as standard.

Three battery packs provide a total installed capacity of over 600 kWh, while two electric motors (as part of a new eActros) generate 400 kW of continuous output and 600 kW of peak output.
