PD Ports powers solar logistics

Working with freight forwarders Fracht and Cargocare Global, the operator managed more than 220 containers of solar panels and 300 containers of lithium cubes through its Teesport terminal.

Renewables supply chain

The equipment supports large-scale solar farms across the North East, with integrated handling, storage and delivery designed to maximise renewable energy deployment and streamline complex clean-energy supply chains.

Shipments were discharged at Tees Dock before being unloaded to road or storage and transported onward to site via a single point of contact.

PD Ports said this coordinated model reduces risk, shortens dwell times and improves visibility across each stage of the journey, reinforcing Teesport’s role in port electrification and renewable energy logistics.

The imported components will be used in solar energy schemes built on vacant or unfarmed land, combining generation and battery storage to supply power to the grid when required.

As one of Teesside’s largest landowners and a national trade gateway, PD Ports said its infrastructure, land availability and supply chain expertise position it to anchor future clean-energy projects.
