Thames waste logistics gets an equipment upgrade

The SMV 4646 TCX4 machine, due for delivery in Q2 2026, will handle waste containers transported by barge along the River Thames supporting efficient port logistics for a major recycling and waste-management facility.

Specific requirements

The solution reflects increasing demand for specialised port equipment tailored to complex recycling and waste-handling processes. 

Designed to operate in tidal conditions exceeding seven metres, the port equipment enables deep-reach lifting up to four metres below quay level.

The reach stacker combines high-capacity lifting, up to 45 tonnes in the first and second rows, with four-high stacking capability, reinforcing its versatility across both barge and terminal operations.

Its 37-tonne barge lifting capacity is critical for maintaining throughput in London’s waste-to-energy supply chain, where reliability directly impacts recycling efficiency.
