ACT recognised for ‘green’ efforts
American Chemical Technologies Inc (Act) has been recognised by Green Marine for its environmentally-friendly marine lubricant products.
ACT’s ‘green’ products include Neptune Series polyalkylene glycol (PAG)-based lubricants, which is said to be the only fluid chemistry that is fully compliant with US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Vessel General Permit (VGP) and Clean Water Act requirements. The series also meets the US Coast Guard Surface Force Logistics Centre (SFLC) EAT Standard and are approved for use by Transport Canada.
“The Green Marine environmental certification programme provides a rigorous and detailed framework for maritime companies to establish and then reduce their environmental footprint, combining self-evaluation, independent verification and transparent public reporting,” said Kevin Kovanda, president, ACT.
“In keeping with our support of marine operators as they take steps to comply with new environmental regulations, ACT is honoured to be recognised as a Green Marine partner,” he added.
The company’s Neptune lubricants include anti-wear fluids as well as gear lubricants in a range of viscosity grades to meet the requirements of oil-to-sea interface, deck and other marine vessel applications, as well as for dockside or other shoreline systems.
Green Marine is a voluntary environmental certification programme for the North American marine industry. Programme partners are suppliers of services, products and/or equipment that help US and Canadian shipowners, port and terminals improve environmental performance.
