Antwerp sustainability report

Antwerp Port Authority is drawing up a second sustainability report for the “port community” as it strives for greater sustainability following the recent financial and economic crisis.

Antwerp says the new report will focus on “people, plant and profit” and will look at which green objectives were attained and which were not over the years.

One of the Authority’s objectives is to draw up a Sustainable Enterprise Guide to support companies in the port. This guide, in the form of a website, will help small companies in particular to join the port’s “sustainability quest”, with information, case studies and best practices.

The 2013 Sustainability Report and Sustainably Enterprise Guide will be presented on 8 October during Antwerp Green Week.

During this week, Antwerp Port Authority will be hosting Mercator Media’s GreenPort Congress from 9 to 11 October and the Clean Air in Ports workshop for Naturschutzbund Deutschland (NABU) on 8 October.

To draw up the report, Antwerp Port Authority teamed up with Alfaport (representing private companies in the port) and the Left Bank Development Corporation.

The report follows the port’s first sustainability report in 2012.
