DP World scales up its green data strategy

The global logistics leader is streamlining its sustainability data strategy in response to complex port emissions data requirements and the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).

A unified system

With Watershed, DP World gains a unified system for tracking and reporting sustainability performance across 75 countries, where disclosure expectations and regulatory frameworks vary widely.

A key part of the initiative is aligning sustainability data with financial decision-making. By integrating emissions tracking into business performance, DP World can ensure that port emissions data becomes a core factor in logistics strategy and client reporting.

“We have to align sustainability decisions as much as we can with business decisions,” said John Woollacott, CFO for DP World Europe.

“It is critical that reporting doesn’t get overcomplicated and focuses on a small number of the most important KPIs.”

Watershed’s automated system enables country-level analysis and site-specific insights, supporting DP World’s ambition to deliver low-carbon logistics.

The platform empowers teams to make informed choices, like switching freight from road to barge, by balancing carbon savings with operational cost, enhancing port sustainability and transparency across the supply chain.
