Global equipment manufacturer, Hyster, part of NACCO Materials Handling Group (NMHG), has extended its ‘profitable low emissions’ approach to its new range of 8 to 16 tonnes lift capacity forklift trucks.
Hyster’s new H8-16XM range features Tier 4/Stage IIIB compliant Cummins engines, ECO-eLo control systems and new load sensing hydraulics, which detect the load weight.
“In heavy industry applications, maximum loads are not always handled continuously throughout a shift,” said Chris van der Werdt, sales manager, Hyster. “By introducing load sensing hydraulics there is less waste, lower noise levels, reduced operating temperatures and greater fuel efficiency.”
Going forward, the company says it is working towards 2014 and 2015 regulations to reduce emissions even further. Ian Melhuish, vice president of marketing, NACCO Materials Handling Group, told GreenPort: “We need to look at what customers will need from trucks in the future – maximum uptime and minimum fuel costs.”
The new forklift trucks also incorporate Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) technology, which allows the engine to burn at a lower temperature, resulting in a 5% fuel saving and reduced CO2 emissions.
Overall, they offer fuel savings of up to 17% compared to previous generation models, while the H13-16XM-6 and H10-12XM-12EC series offer fuel savings of 10%.
Further fuel saving options include a travel speed limiter, empty seat shutdown feature with variable time delay, low rolling resistance and durable radial tyres.
