At this year’s ‘Gas Fuelled Ships Conference 2013’, which is taking place onboard Viking Line’s ‘Viking Grace’, delegates will have the chance to experience live ship-to-ship bunkering.
Mercator Media’s fourth Gas Fuelled Ships Conference, which will provide information on the use of LNG as a maritime fuel,will take place onboard the Viking Grace, the world’s largest passenger cruise vessel fuelled by LNG. Sailing from Stockholm early on 11 September 2013 and arriving at Turku in the evening, the vessel will then return to Stockholm overnight before setting off for Turku again for the second day of the conference on 12 September 2013.
Whilst in Stockholm, delegates will be able to experience live ship-to-ship bunkering between the supplier, AGA, and the Viking Grace. In addition, delegates will also take part in a tour of the vessel’s engine room, which is powered by Wärtsilä’s LNGPac System.
The passenger cruise vessel has been designed with the goal of finding the best possible environmental solutions and uses LNG fuel which reduces its nitrogen exhausts by 85%. The use of LNG also reduces the vessels greenhouse gases by 15% and almost reduces its sulphur level to zero.
The Viking Grace also features a hydrodynamic hull to minimise wave formation and decrease fuel consumption, in addition to noise reduction, high insulation and resource recycling.
