LNG services agreement in Latin America
Operational negotiations are underway for the largest natural gas power plant and LNG terminal project in Latin America.
Klaipedos Nafta (KN) is in talks with Gas Natural Acu (GNA), which is implementing the project at Acu Port in Brazil. If negotiations are successful, KN will provide LNG terminal operator services.
The projected LNG Regasification Terminal at GNA’s newly built Port of Acu will include two natural gas-fired power plants with a combined capacity of 3GW and an LNG import terminal of 21,000m3 during the day.
“We are following our strategic direction and are actively interested in opportunities to engage in international LNG projects,” explained Darius Šilenskis, acting director general of KN. “We are pleased to be invited to participate in international competitions for excellence, flexibility and quality of our solutions.”
“The terminal operator is currently in the midst of productive negotiations with GNA. It is too early to predict when an agreement could be reached, but we are making every effort to secure and do all the homework ahead of time so that in case of success we can immediately focus on providing new client services,” he added.
