Peru''s National Port Authority (APN) has approved the technical report put forward for the construction of the new Terminal Portuario General San Martín in Pisco, which has been put together by concessionaire Terminal Portuario Paracas S.A. (TPP).
The facility will have 700 metres of quay with alongside draft of 14 metres. There will be a 5.25ha warehouse area and 4ha for container storage.
Quayside lift will consist of two mobile harbour cranes and two grain unloaders which, along with an environmentally friendly hopper system, will require investment of $11.7m.
Complementary investment of $27.5m will be made in a further warehousing area of 6.9ha.
In total, $185m is earmarked for the project, which will have a total of four berths capable of handling both local and international traffic. Operations are slated to begin within 30 months of construction work starting.
